I'm having problems with drinking sometimes. I'm always thristy and I only can drink 4oz. And try to every hour. I want to drink more per serving and know I cannot. Also, it so hard to sip all day, I 've bought different sipping cups and noting work that I do. I need some advices please. Thanks

I always drank what I wanted. I never used sippy cups. It is important to get your fluids in. I never did the sippy cup thing. Best wishes Barb

With the RNY you usually go through ketosis. When your body is breaking the fat cells down so quickly your body cannot efficeintly get rid of them. The characteristics of ketosis are excessive thirst and a "sweet" taste in your mouth. I tell my patients to continously sip throughout the day and Sugar-Free Popsicles REALLY help with the thirst. The effects of ketosis will decrease as you go and will go away. Hope that helped! Have a great day! Erin the Dietitian

Charmaine you are not alone, I too have been having a very hard time consuming that much liquid. But it is getting better because my stomach feels better. I am up to a little over 20 oz. I know I need 3 times that but I am going to keep on trying. Erin the nutrictist in my Dr office says soups, juices, anything with liquid count toward that. Maybe you could try more brothes. I love the wonton broth at my favorite Chinese rest. Take care, you can do it. Betty
