I am curious if anyone went to the meeting at Howell Rehab last night? I was there and thought it was pretty cool..I think Allan Howell has some great ideas and is so willing to work with bariatric patients...if you have no idea what I am talking about.. this rehab is a bit different as they have a gym and the pool that lowers down and turns into a treadmill, it's awesome! they have personal trainers there and physical therapist..it's great if you are having back or leg problems and just need some help getting started..insurance pays for it if your doc writes a script so I thought that was pretty awesome too. and the other thing I liked is if you do the exercises in the pool you have a therapist to yourself in a private session... well I thought it was awesome..nice crowd there last night.. hope everyone is doing great!! Brenda: I'm glad you enjoyed it. I felt it was a necessary component to our Program. I have always felt the patients need alternatives to add exercise to their regimen. Especially, when many of the patients I see can't even walk ten feet let alone around the block. Anne Erisman our Coordinator/P.A. was kind enough to set up the Support group on site. One of our patients was very kind to volunteer as the person exercising and has done wonderfully and some residual back pain after signficant weight loss has almost disappeared. For the person asking about support groups we have one that meets in Fairfield if you check out our website and you'll find it. Excuse the website it is pretty dated and I'm working on that this week to get it up to speed with all the changes going on. Thanks for coming out! Sincerely, Calvin Selwyn, M.D. Assistant Professor of Surgery Director, Surgical Endoscopy and Laparoscopy UC Center for Surgical Weight Loss The Christ Hospital and University Pointe Surgical Hospital University Pointe Clinic and University Hospital www.ucsurgeons.com/bariatric [email protected]

Thank you for the reply Dr. Selwyn, I totally agree that something like this so very necessary. I have also agreed to work with Howell Rehab anytime they want to set up workshops, etc. I was disappointed that you were not there, I havn't seen you since the walk last summer. You have a meeting in Fairfield? I didn't know that, you still have the one in Mason? Have a great day.. Brenda
