wls exclusion

my employer has a exclusion for any kind of wls. I have tried vocational rehab, but i am not eligable. Does anyone have any suggestions on what I should do? My company is self insured so they do not have to follow by guidelines. Is thier a job in the miami county area that covers it? please help

Heather, I'm sorry to hear about your situation. I just found out my employer has an exclusion, too. I posted on here and got quite a few encouraging replies, for which I am very grateful. Heather and Angela..I am sorry to hear about what's happening ..don't hold me to this I would chedk further, but I have heard if there is an "exclusion" there is nothing they can do..so appealing it doesn't seem to help evidently...but keep trying maybe something awesome will happen for you. Hi Heather ... my employer too had an exclusion, as I was denied the first time around. My surgeon sent a letter of medical necessity and I don't know what transpired between my surgeon/insurance co/employer, but I then did get a notice that I was approved. SO ... don't give up. If your surgeon is willing, I would ask him to write a letter of medical necessity to the insurance company (I think a note from a surgeon holds more weight than if it came from an individual ... no pun intended). Maybe you can make a "deal" with your company or something? Good luck ... you will find a way. Karyn

I recommend to appeal up to your HR dept. It was their decision to have the exclusion and they will have the power to over turn it.
