Excluded--the story of my life

I don't usually like to post on here when I have nothing positive to say, but I'm really down in the dumps and don't know what else to do. I found out today that my employer has an exclusion in our insurance policy for any kind of weight loss surgery.

I went to my consult today with Dr. Curry, and Tracy took one look at my employer information and told me that she thinks my employer has an exlusion. Of course, everyone at the office was nice and helpful and sympathetic, but with an exclusion I realize things are really out of their hands. I was so upset I started crying in the office. I felt pretty stupid, but I couldn't control it. I just verified with Humana and my employer that there is an exclusion.

Anyway, I don't know what to do now. I'm so upset I'm just ready to give up on everything. I would really appreciate any prayers anyone could spare for me as I try to fight this. Thanks in advance and take care! Angela

Erin, Thank you so much for the encouragement!! It was really a pleasure meeting you and the rest of the staff there today. I'm sorry I got so bummed out! I think I need to talk to Tracy again to see if there is a next step. I talked to my HR rep and she recommended that I go ahead and try to have the request for preauthorization submitted, and once I get my denial letter

I should try an appeal. I know it won't be an easy road, and I'll probably experience more disappointments and get discouraged again, but I am willing to take the risks and make the sacrifices to improve the quality of my life and be healthy.
