Can someone tell me what to expect with having a scope done on my esophagus? Will I be able to work the next day? Are you in pain after the procedure is done?

I've had an endoscopy.....don't remember a thing, they give you anesthetic. i was fine to work the next day. The day of you just need to let the drugs wear off. I had no pain afterwards. Good luck on it, I hope everything turns out well for you pam

I had mine done first thing in the morning, they put me to sleep, did the thing, woke me up, wife drove me home, by noon everything was back to normal. I had no pain at all, was like taking a nap. Be sure you have someone there to drive you home, I couldn't walk straight let alone drive home. Jimmy

It is a breeze... I had to have it done twice... It really isnt bad at all... My Doctor was really good about drugging me up good... Just tell your doctor that you are really nervous and he/she will take care of you... You will notice that your throat will be sore for a couple of days afterwards, but it isnt anything major... I went back to work the next day... you will feel 100% the next day... I felt like a new woman... Good luck

I just had my 8th scope today, because the opening from my stomach pouch into the small intestines keeps healing closed. They put you out for the procedure, which usually takes less than an hour. You will be drugged out the rest of the day. I always go to work the next day, but my throat usually hurts the next day. Other than that, it is painless, but scary!!!!! Best of luck to you. Sincerely, Lois Anne Warnock
