I finally received my letter from the insurance company. It said Lap Band is not a contract benefit. What does that mean? I called the insurance company and they said it should be covered, they don't know why it was denied to send an appeal. This is so frustrating! I know I have to keep my chin up, but I really don't think they will pay for it. What am I supposed to do then? I could really use some encouraging advise. Thanks everyone, I love this website.

Deb, I'm so sorry! I know its not much of a consolation, but there are a lot of people who get denied the first time around. Its like the insurance companies do it as a matter of policy or something. File your appeal! And keep filing until they say yes. Hang in there and know that we are all pulling for you!! Hugs, Bella

Deb, Keep trying. One of the ladies I know at work tried for 3 years to get approval and finally got it.

Deb, It doesnt sound like a full denial. It seems like they just want proof. Lets hope and pray this is it. I will be thinking of you. Hugs Barb

My insurance company doesnt cover the lap band but will cover the rny. Insurance companys are weird. They do good at confusing everyone. I bet they dont cover the lapband and only cover the rny. I would look into more. to save time. They will stall you as long as they can. I would call them and ask them to let you talk to someone who knows what is covered. You need to know. Take Care Barb

Right on Barb ... Insurance companys are weird. They do good at confusing everyone. I am so sorry. I know how disappointing it is to wait and wait then have to jump through more hoops. Try to keep your chin up and have it resubmitted. I am just getting my feet wet on this ... was told it is covered. We shall see when the DR sends in the paperwork. Good luck! Susan
