Dr. C/Tracy... Self-pay question

It's that time of year and we're getting our tax stuff together. The only "receipt" I have for paying for my surgery is a credit card machine slip that says Deaconess at the top and has the amount I paid. I gave them the credit card over the phone, so that's what they mailed me. I think I am going to need something more specific than that in order to write it off, aren't I? Is there something similar to an explanation of benefits statement I can get somehow? Thanks! Melissa

Melissa, Are going to try and get the insurance company to pay you back? I'm trying althought that internet lawyer that I hired isn't doing anything. I was wondering if I claim the medical expense of the lap-band and the insurance company pays me back at some point, what happens. Cathy

Gosh Cathy, I don't know what would happen in that situation. There is no way I'll be reimbursed for mine though - my company has wls written in their policy as an exclusion... they won't even consider it. They suck.

Melissa, You can contact our Patient Financial Services department and they can give you anything you need in regards to an explanation of benefits. Their number is 513-559-2132. You can speak with Missie. Tracy
