Hi there! I'm new and I have lots of questions!!

I am 26 years old. I weigh 240 lbs, its uncontrollable. I have gained about 70 lbs in the past 6 years. I have severe back problems. I have polycystic ovarian syndrome so that makes it worse. And not to complain, but I can't tell anybody this, nobody understands!!! They all say diet and exercise. yea easier said then done. When I can hardly walk how do I exercise??? I have questions regarding the Lap Band surgery. I had a consultation and he said that I was a good candidate. My insurance said they cover 80% of it.. BUT.. My concerns.. I have not had any children yet. the doctor said this can only help my chances. Has anyone had problems with child bearing post op?? Can you drink alcohol with the band? I don't drink a lot but when I go out with my girlfiriend once a year, we like to get a little rowty. Is it hard to eat out? or at family functions? I think that is it for now.. Oh and any Post op things you feel I should know Thank you so much!!!!

Hi Crystal!! No answers for you as I haven't had surgery yet but I wanted to send you a *hug*. I have PCOS too and it SUCKS big time. I'm really hoping that WLS is the answer to controlling it!! Good luck on your journey! Melissa

Welcome to the board. I had Open surgery rny. I drink bloody marrys on Sat Nights when we go out. I need to change my drink the tomatoe juice is giving me acne. I use to drink beer but cant drink that anymore. I heard you can bear children after 18 months. Eating out is not problem after your on solid foods. If I eat out I order the kids meals. I have no problem there. This surgery saved my life Down to 199 today. Lost 73 pounds in 4 months. I feel wonderful. Take Care Barb
