Hey all I am well on my way to surgery, just waiting for a few more tests and OH medicaid to approve. I have a couple questions after seeing the dietician at DR Z's Office. Is crystal light ok to drink after surgery? or are there any other calorie free, caffine free, carbonation free flavored beverages out there? I know water is cool but is that all we can drink? She had me start looking at labels for amounts of sugar and Protien. What is soft enough to eat after surgery that has lots of protien the only soft things I can think of are mashed potatoes (no Protien) pudding (too much sugar and no protien) Oatmeal (don't know how much protien plus I only like the instant with fruit or brown sugar) so what will I eat besides chicken broth? Answers from anyone would be appreciated. Erica

Jello , refried beans with melted cheese, pudding, cream of wheat, yogut, cottage cheese, soups blended up ( Taste better than broth) Tomatoe juice , ( V8) crystal light, hot tea, cold tea, I drank suger free how chocolate made with splenda, with a scoop of protein in it. I also drink the gnc 40 gr protein drink no carbs 20 ounces . Sugar free popsicles, some sugar is okay. My doctor told me no more than 6 . There is more stuff. I just cant think of it. Splenda is great for sweating up your oatmeal. Remeber to take baby wipes and chap stick to the hospital. Best Wishes Barb

Dont forget pudding and jello make sugar free stuff. Add unflavored protein to things like mashed potatoes and soups to get protein in also. I did alot of refried beans and pureed alot of stuff for six weeks. Liquid diet for two then six weeks of puree. Good luck. Tammy o
