I called Cigna today to check on where we stood with my surgery authorization. I was told that they had it...so that was good...but it was still pending. I asked what was the hold up and they said it was missing some information. Now guess what these idiots told me was missing. My height, weight, BMI and comorbid conditions. I could not help it....I just said it outloud right there on the phone. "Ma'am, Do you people think I am an idiot? Do you think I am going to believe my bariatric surgeon's office would submit for authorization for surgery and not tell you my height, weight and BMI?" "You are going to have to come up with something better than that!" Then the rep tells me that have requested a Peer to Peer and as soon as my doctor calls they can make a decision. It would not surprise me if that was not another lie. I hope Dr. C and Tracy can straighten their sorry A$$ out. I am already expecting to be denied first attempt so I am prepared for that. I am just angry that Cigna just out and out lied to me. OK......my vent is over. Thanks for listening!

Sandra, Never fear...if I've said this once I've said it a thousand times - if anyone can get it done, Tracy can! Dr. C

It just blew me away they would lie like that. I said to the rep....what did you people do with the 5 years of medical records that were sent? Can't you get a height and weight from the records and that is when she brought up the Peer to Peer. I had heard all the Cigna horror stories from people I work with but until I actually experienced the reality of it .....well all I can say is that they are some kind of nasty ! Tracy, bring out your big guns

Hi Sandra! Well, your height, weight, BMI and co-morbidities were listed on pages 2,3,4,5 and 6 (it would have been listed on page 1, but that was the cover sheet!). Of course, all of those things were also listed a half of dozen times in the 500 pages/5 years of medical records you provided, as well. Interestingly enough, peer to peer reviews are usually only offered after a denial is in place. However, Cigna is pretty good about notifying me about denials right away, and I have heard nothing. Before you think--well Tracy, how could you hear anything, you were off today......I retrieve my messages several times a day when I am off, b/c in past experience-I always seem to get the calls I have been waiting for on those days. Go figure. So, I will look into what is going on and we will go from there. Have a great night! Tracy
