I have a consult date

I got off my sorry butt and made an appointment for my consultation and evaluation. Jan 31 @ 11:00 am. Good thoughts and prayers requested. It was one of the more difficult calls to make. Melissa

I found my hands shaking so bad when I dialed the phone for my surgeons office, and all I was doing was requesting an information packet. I quess admitting you need help IS the toughest part. (Insurance approval has to be a close second!) Who is your consult. with?

Thanks for the validation that I'm not the only one who was nervous!! I'm going through the Cleveland Center for Bariatric Surgery at St. Vincent Charity. I won't know which surgeon until after this step (this is kind of the intake and 'do you want to continue?' part). This will get the paperwork going although my PCP is already on board. My PCP was concerned about my driving to St.V's for everything although she recommended their program. Fortunately, the CCBS is less than 2 miles from my office!! You're in Van Wert, right? My favorite SIL lives in Stryker and we'll be there next month. What a small world! Melissa

Hi Melissa! Hey! I am going to CCBS too.... isn't it such a small world. They are all sooo very nice. At my initial consult I met with Melissa Brown, she was extremely nice and took the time to answer my questions. All the ladies that I have dealt with have been nothing but kind and helpful. I just had my surgeon consult last Wednesday with Dr. Ben-Meir, he is very kind and extremely down to earth. They asked me how many abdominal surgeries I have had and several other questions. Yeap, I'm in VanWert. I'll be going to Coloumbus for my surgery, so I'll have quite a drive, but it'll be worth it. Best of luck on your journey!!

I think VanWert is the cutest town. I used to work for an Insurance Agency here in Dayton and got to come to VanWert and spend a few days at Central Insurance when we first started writing for them. My inlaws also live in Celina which is just down the road from you.

Melissa I too was shaking as I called the surgeon. It wasn't as bad as I thought. But of course I thought they were going to take naked pictures of me and "Poke and Prod" but they didn't. Erica

Many thanks everyone!! I know there will be no naked pics but knowing that this will eventually lead to surgery is somewhat scary! Barb...Melissa Brown was at the informational session I went to a few weeks ago. Her story is amazing!!! Now I just have to get through the next week! We have BC/BS Fed and I hear amazing stories of how quick they are to get approvals through. Maybe that's what is scaring me right now, I'm still wrapping my brain around the idea of it all! I'm so glad I found this board...I'd be lost right now without it!! Melissa

Melissa, I have 2 friends who have gone to St. Vincent's. Both have had excellent results without any complications. I think you have made an excellent choice. Good Luck to you! I know you will do well.
