Hi I am new.
I have been researching weight loss surgery ever since my mom in law told me that this would help with my back, feet and ankle pain.I am looking for a surgeon in the Dayton area that takes bc/bs of Alabama. I was also wondering how long it takes to get approval and any advise would be appreciated.
Thank You, Tracy
Hi Tracy
Welcome to the site.
I just had surgery this month.
I have bc/bs and it took about 2 months to be approved for the rou-en-y
they would not pay for the lap band.
Dr Trace Curry is great, he is out of Cincinnati, Deaconess Hospital. But his office is moving to the West Chester Area soon. So he will be pretty close to you.
Good luck
Betty
HI Tracy -welcome aboard!
I had my RNY for the exact reasons you stated--I had back, hip and leg pain all the time. It has completely gone away--no pain!!!!! Hurray!!!! I'm not familiar with your insurance and live on the eastern side of the state so not much help with that either, hopefully someone in your area can help you. I have read lots of wonderful things on this board about Dr. Curry and I think you can email someone at his office about insurance.
Good luck Wanda
I have Anthem BC/BS - I don't know if that is the same or not. I had my surgery with Dr. Bruce from the Dayton Bariatric Center. They have an office right across the street from the Dayton Mall which is very convenient if you're traveling on I-75. You can check out their web page at www.daytonbariatriccenter.com All the numbers are on there you could call and ask if they accept your insurance. I have been very happy with the care I've received from them.
Christy,
How did you like Dr Bruce. I think he is wonderful. I hope you had a wonderful hospital stay. Did you have Lisa for a nurse ? She was my favorite. Dr Bruce saved my life. And he is a wonderful surgeon. How are you doing on you weight loss and diet. I had a few struggles with hunger but got thru it. I am doing great. I am 70 pounds lighter in 4 months. Dr Bruce was really happy with my weight loss. Wasnt all his interns wonderful

Tracy. I would recommend that you talk to Surgical Weight Loss Center, Dr. Fallang. He is very good and has done many many surgeries. He has a private surgical hospital called Riverview Health Institute and the care is excellent. They are located in Elizabeth Place, the old St. E's hospital. Here is their website so that you can get some additional info. They work well with any insurance/or private pay. http://www.riverviewhealthinstitute.com
Hope that helps and feel free to contact me with any other questions. Chris
