I had surgery 14 months ago, and have lost 167lbs. so far. I am now at where I would like to remain, but am still losing some, could someone please help. Have anyone had this problem, and if so what did you do? My surgeon didn't want me to loose over 90% of my excess weight. At the time of surgery my weight was 311 and is now 143. Thanks so much.

Connie, Sometimes I worry that my body wont know when to stop losing weight and I might get too thin. But I am trusting that this body will know when it has reached its healthiest weight for me. I have a person goal of 120 for myself by my one year anniversary date. I cant remember ever weighing any less than I am right now, even in elementary school. I am at 152 down from 310. I want to be healthy and thinner, but not so thin I am skin and bones. I think the most important thing is that we exercise and make good healthy food choices, take our vitties and just keep a positive outlook about life. The rest should take care of itself. Big hugs Laura

That must be a common fear for a lot of us, Connie! I started out at 330 pounds and have lost 195 pounds. At around 170, I started to worry, at 160, I began to sweat about it, and at 150, I was telling Dr Curry that I didn't want to lose any more! He told me that I could lose another 10-15 pounds and not to worry about it. He also told me that I could gain 10 or so pounds back. Now at 135, I go up 2-3 pounds and then I lose it again. I cram food in everytime that I get hungry. I try and eat healthy high protein foods, but my new thing here lately is a cheese coney EVERYDAY! Don't do like I did and worry yourself to bits over it. I agree that the body will eventually stop it on its own. The only person that I know that got to skinny is a woman that I work with who uses to many pain pills for an unrelated health issue. Just feed that body when it tells you it needs fuel. I keep nuts, fruit and canned foods at work just so that I have something there if I need it. Sometimes the hours I work get long and I need more fuel then I brought in that day! And whoever would have thought that we would be complaining about losing to much! Happy Dancing Me!

Cathey, How much can you eat in one meal and do you do three meals a day. And do you count your calories or try and keep them around the same each day. It seems wonderful that you can lose weight with no effort. I hope I am like you. I meet a lady at the doctors office. She told me she eats everything and keeps losing. She said she cant stop losing and was in there for that reason. She was 4 years out. Must be nice. Maybe I might be like that. Was you intire weight loss pretty fast or did you have some stalls. I notice I get stalls. But I heard this is normal. Did you ever get stalls or platu Hugs Barb

Hi Barb, I don't count calories and I eat about 6 small meals a day. A cheese coney minus the hotdog fills me up. I snack on nuts and fruit in between my meals. I eat as soon as I feel hungry or else I start feeling sick. Part of the reason that I had such a rapid weight loss was that after another surgery(not weight related) I became very ill and was hospitalized. For over a month, the only thing that I could keep down was broth. I don't recommend the starvation thing. I dreamed of coneys and White Castles the entire time. Burger King commercials could make me teary! I never really had any stalls or plateaus. I was just lucky that way. There are still foods that make me ill. I still have a hard time with almost every kind of meat. Turkey is my one true meat friend. Have a hard time with any kind of pasta. One or 2 bites and that is all my belly is going to stand for. I do go to the gym 2-3x a week. Take water classes, arm and leg exercises and I dance around the house as I clean. (Not a pretty sight) My weight has been pretty much steady for the past month or so. Up and down a couple of pounds. I don't worry about it. I eat whatever my body is craving. I just think that God said..."you've had enough problems, I'm not giving you another!" All I know is that I am one happy woman who is grateful for this second chance at life. Cathy

Wow you really did have it rough at first. The weight loss is remarkable. I hope I am the same way with not gaining anyback. Why do I worry about this I do not know. I guess I am so use to failing on my diets before surgery. I am doing great 70 pounds in 4 months is nothing to cry about. I am so use to failing. This surgery just at times seems to good to be true. I feel great. I am thankful I had this done. Thanks for the feedback Hugs Barb

I think this is great. I don't seem to lose anymore and I still need to lose about 10 more pounds. I have gained 4 lbs through the holidays and can't seem to be able to get it off. I am fine at 158 but would be very happy if I could stay there. BUT I feel like it is very easy to gain and thats the scary part. Good luck and if you need help gaining I have alot of great tips lol. Don't worry, you are doing great, Cindy

I had my surgery about 13 months ago. I am having the same problem. I was 238 at the time of my surgery and now I weigh about 117. My doctor wanted me to stop at 125. I am only 5"3, so it is not really a big problem to be this weight. A lot of people are starting to tell me that I am too thin though. I have been trying to eat small meals several times a day. Not to get too personal, but are you constipated a lot? My doctor said that that can be part of the problem. You feel full because of it and aren't able to eat as much as you should. This has been my biggest problem since the surgery. Hope this helps at least a little and lets you know that you are not alone! Good luck to you!
