I am 2 1/2 weeks out from surgery. After several days with almost no pain, I just started having a severe burning pain in my "main" hole everytime I move. No pain at all if I am still, but feel like I'm being stabbed if I even take a step. Any thoughts out there? This has made me very upset as I had a huge amount of pain early in my recovery and I thought I saw the light at the end of the tunnel. Turns out it was a train. Thanks, Cal

The pain should be improving every day after surgery. Severe pain all of a sudden is a warning sign that there may be a complication. In my case it was a bowel obstruction (very very serious and life threatening). However, when I had my complication, the pain was severe even when still. Try a heating pad (it gave me a lot of comfort right after surgery when I also had a lot of pain). However, if your regualar pain meds are not curbing this sharpt pain then you MUST call your doctor right now.
