I am scheduled for LAP RNY in March and I am over 60. Has anyone over 60 years had WLS surgery, and how did you do?

My mother had it and she is 61. She did not have lick of pain afterwards and has lost tons of weight. She never had to take the pain killers that were given. Her only problem is that she is not good at following orders to eat 60 grams of protien and drink plenty of water. Her hair is thinning a bit,but she is happy as a lark and looking GREAT! I am 37 and had just the opposite... tons of pain afterwards, a huge and life threatening complication (bowel obstruction) and had another month of extremem pain after the month after the WLS. Age has nothing to do with how well you do. I think that they do this surgery up until 65. After that, then there are other risks related to age that is probably considered. Good luck
