New-Protein HELP
Well, in my own experience with wacky post-op taste buds, the term 'good protein' doesn't exist unless it's from eating food. For that reason, I go for the biggest punch with the smallest volume.
ProStat64 is 15g per ounce, so I pour myself a 2oz shot for a 30g punch!
Now, this stuff tastes as horrible as the rest, but I can hold my nose and chug this little amount down, followed by something that will coat my mouth before I let go of my nose. I barely taste it and it's quick and painless.
If you choose to try the powder drinks, take this best advice. Drink them through a straw over ice. That way, you avoid the foamy crap on the side of the glass.

I have tried a few different ones from GNC. The ON Whey Gold Standard in Vanilla Ice Cream tastes okay. You can mix it with milk, water or even juice. You can blend it with ice to make it like a smoothie. It comes in other flavors too but I've only tasted the Vanilla Ice Cream. The GNC Whey Protein comes in several flavors. I tasted the banana creme. I luiked that one. GNC also has another protein drink called isopure. It comes in a bottle like pop but it isn't carbonated. It comes in several flavors but I've never tried any of them.

Melissa,
I use Nectar protein poweder. I buy it at the Vitamin Shoppe. I like roadside lemonade....but there are many flavors to choose from. There are 23 grams of protein....90 calories....no fat....no sugar....and I love it!
I mix it with crystal light lemonade and drink 3 a day! I am now down 181 pounds with 9 pounds to go!

Melissa, first off, congratulations on your WLS! I wish you much success!
As far as protein, my suggestion would be to order samples... LOTS of samples... from places like Susan Maria's website (No, I don't work for her, but I love her stuff - she advertises on this website, so you'll be able to find her. I'm not sure I'm "allowed" to put a website in here), and many other websites out there that sell samples. This way you're only spending a couple dollars to try something out as opposed to paying a small fortune for a big ole tub of something you may or may not be able to drink.
Early on it does seem like most of this stuff really tastes bad, but I've finally settled on the Matrix 5.0 chocolate. I get a 5 pound bag of it for less than $35.00, and it's really pretty good!
Good luck to you!
