General questions...
Hello all! First I'd like to thank all of you for being here! What a great resource!! I was hoping I might trouble you for a bit of information. First I was hoping that there might be someone who would be willing to share their opinions about Mid Ohio Surgical and/or Dr. Price. I'm curious as to how long the process might have taken for you. I've been at it for a year now. I'm waiting for insurance approval, but it seems to be taking a really long time. I haven't heard ANYTHING since my surgical consult and that was three months ago. I have no basis for which to form an opinion about this. Is it an unusual amount of time?
I was also hoping that someone might have Medigold insurance. Any opinions about them would be greatly appreciated as well.
Have a great day! And thanks....
Arabella,
I cant give you any advice for that particular group since I am in Missouri. But I can tell you to call the insurance company, and follow up frequently with them. Dont be afraid to bug them. Sometimes the paper work gets lost in the pile or the shuffle. I did not have that insurance, but I had Medicaire and BC/BS. I was approved really fast (1 week) and I still wonder how that happened. Any questions, please email. Colette
I can't give you advice on that group either, but 3 months with no communication isn't a good thing. I started with a different clinic when I originally started and I will tell you that I had to get my approval for the surgery on my own. Their rep that dealt with my insurance company and the rep at my insurance company had a personality conflict.
I worked for 8 physicians and I will tell you that you have to be proactive with your insurance company. The physician's office will not. When I went to OSU I already had my approval from insurance so I can't tell you how long they deal with things.
Remember, you pay the insurance company to work for you. You are going to pay the doctor to work on you. They get no money until they get you on the table. If this is something you are doing to save your life due to comorbidities etc. then you need to get down and dirty and start cracking the whip. You may find that they haven't "received" your info, that is a "good one" that insurance companies tell you. It may have been put in your chart and never filed, that happened to me with my cardiologist's office. I had the date and time recorded as to when I dropped off forms to them, they put them in my chart and I wasn't told by my insurance that they never received them....3 months later. I'm not trying to be hard on you, but don't trust people to take care of you, it's your health/life, you are worth it. Be strong!
Blessings,
Jacquelyn
When I first started my journey over 5 years ago I had set up my first initial visit with Dr. Phillip Price...his office called me three times to re-schedule the appointment...on the third time I said that was it and called Barix who at that time was called The Bariatric Clinic. The entire process from start to finish with the Barix clinic 6 months.
My best friends grandfather had his surgery through him too. He didn't do very well at all, but I believe a lot of that was associated with his age and physical problems that led to the surgery.
Hope that helps.
