Good morning to all of you Ohio people, It is a great sunny morning here in Missouri with the temperature around 60 degrees. This weather is so unusual for this time of the year. I need your help in locating a good doctor that does LapRNY in and around the Defiance Area. My daughter and son in law are going to have this type surgery. They attended a seminar the other night but the doctor only does lapband. Can you give me infor on the doc and when seminar will be. I f they have to even go into Michigan they will. Insurance will be no problem for either of them as they work at GM and it is covered if they meet the criteria. Incidentally I had LapRNY done on 11-14 here and down 46 pounds. Would do it again in a heart beat. Thanks, Colette

Collette, I would suggest Dr. Trace Curry, he is in Cincinatti(sp), at Deaconess Hospital. He is the Sugeon for the Deaconess Surgical Weightloss Center. I drove 3 1/2 hours for him. His staff is impecable and he surgeon skills are amazing. He is a real life saver to me as well as others on the OH board. I wouldn't suggest anyone else he is by far the best, in my opinion.

thanks for your reply. Does he also do Laproscopic RNY? I wish you continued success in your WLS journey. Colette

Colette, Yes, he does. He did both my sisters' and one of my brothers-in-law's laproscopic RNY surgeries, and he did my other brother-in-law's open RNY. I am also hoping to go through Dr. Curry, pending insurance approval. Angela

I would also highly recommend OSU Bariatric Treatment with Dr. Bradley Needleman. I had Lap RNY 12/30/05 and have felt wonderful since the day after surgery. Textbook surgery - no complications. This is in Columbus, Ohio. If I remember correctly, Defiance is Northwest area of Ohio. Have you tried looking on OH at the Bariatric Surgeon/Hospital listings? Blessings and Success, Jacquelyn

My surgeon was Dr. Brian Lane at the Weight Loss Center at Wood County Hospital in Bowling Green. I would reccomend him any day. I had the Lap RNY 12/12 and have done just fine. BG is not that far from Defiance. I also know there is another Dr. in Toledo that does the RNY, I think Lap. His name is Dr. Patrick White at The Toledo Hospital. Again, not a horrible distance from Defiance.

Deb, thanks for the infor. I see you are a fairly new post op. Hang in there and do what the doctor says. I had my LapRny on 11-14-05 here in Missouri. Absolutely no problems and now enjoying all foods. some more than others. can eat crackers but bread does not sit well. Good Luck. Colette

If insurance is not a problem, there is a doctor at the Toledo Hospital Bariatric Center, and in Bowling Green which is just south of Toledo. I think there may also be a doctor in Findlay but not sure, would be worth checking into. I know one of those towns are close to Defiance but not sure which one is the closest.

I know that both Dr. Rita Anderson and Dr. Gary Anderson at the New Life Surgery Center both do the Lap RNY. New Life is in Kettering, OH -- just south of Dayton and about an hour north of Cincinnati. newlifesurgery.org Dr. Rita did my open DS and she is just wonderful!
