Anyone have surgery at Akron City Hospital??

Hi everybody- I'm the new one here. I'm looking for information on WLS at Akron City Hospital with surgeon George Zografakis. Although I'm new to the message boards, I'm no stranger to WLS. See, I was approved to have WLS i*****; until I chickened out at the last minute and never looked bac****il now. I have finally reached a moment in my life when enough is enough. I regret waiting this long, however I do feel that the surgery has improved greatly over the past 10 years, and my chances of a better outcome has improved. I'm looking for any information that can help me on my journey to a new world that I hope is waiting for me. I am scheduled to attend the seminar at Akron City Hospital on Jan 28th. I am sure that this will answer some questions, but details will come from you guys....and that's what I'm really looking for.. The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly.... Thanks for listening! Deb

Yes you are right the surgery has improved over the last ten years. 15 years ago my cousin had the surgery and she has been so sick. She is really bad off now. She told me to go for it. She said times have changed. and it would save my life. I have heard so many bad stories. But you never here the good. Read these profiles on here. It is amazing. Thanks for the input Barb. Congrats on the weightloss in such a short time. I'm hoping that I have the same success as many of you have. I spend hours each night researching WLS and reading message boards, almost kind of like an obsession at this point. Anyone else experience this type of anxiousness? If so, please let me know! :0

Deb , i am having surgery at city .. i LOVE dr Z he is very kind compassionate funny but gives ya the straight deal ... everyone i have delt with at his office is also very nice and professional and on the ball i will be done with my 3 mo supevized diet which my insuransce co made me do so hopefully they will come thru with an approval quickly and i will be having surgery soon .. if ya have any specific questions i will be happy to answer if i can feel free to email me Missy

Missy I got approved one week after my 6th month supervised diet. I didnt think I would have to do the diet and had my heart doctor write them a note. My insurance company wanted every month on paper. Time really went by fast. I bet your ready to get this over with. 3 months is sure better than 6 months. I am sure the holidays helped time fly. You going to be on the losen side real soon. And start losing your weight and feeling great. Hugs Barb

Deb, I had surgery at Akron City Hospital on 7/19/05 by Dr. Z. I cant say enough good about the care I got at Akron City Hospital. everyone from admitting to discharge was excellent It was a very positive experience. If you have any questions email me.

Deb, My surgery is schedule for Monday morning (1/16). I will be home by mid week. I would be happy to give you my perspective. Just e-mail me if you have any questions.
