Pregnancy post op
Hi,
I'm Rachel I am new to this forum and I need some advice, kind words or knowledge on pregnancy post op. I am now 3 years post op and I found out that I am almost 2 months pregnant. I'm really happy about it, but truly concerned about weight gain during my pregnancy. When I was heavier and had my first two children I gained roughly 50 pounds during my pregnancy and I am really scared that I will gain that much and never loose it again. I almost died from my surgery and it would really be tragic to have gone through that just to gain my weight back. Any advice on this matter would really be appreciated.
Sincerely,
Rachel
Hi Rachel,
First of all, congratulations!! A baby is such a blessing.
I had my gastric bypass in January of 03, and got pregnant in August of 05. My pregnancy was wonderful, and I gained 35 pounds. I lost every pound, plus a couple more since. It was all off by about 8 weeks post partum. My little boy is now 8 months old and is doing wonderfully.
I don't know if you're planning on breast feeding, but if so, not only will it benefit your baby, but it will also help you get the weight off even faster.
Again congratulations, and my prayers are with you for a wonderful pregnancy, delivery, and addition to your family. Email me anytime you have questions!
