Just got home, I will need a support group closer to home.

Hi Everyone Just got home from surgery and feelin pretty good. I had my surgery in Cleveland at St. V's and I live in the Kent area. They have support groups in Cleveland but I don't always want to travel that far. Does anyone know if there are support groups around this area? I know I'll need all the support I can get! Thanks! Hi Leah congrats on your surgery..email me with areas around you ( I am not familiar with kent) and maybe I can find a support group for you to attend..I have alist of all the chapters leads and registered support groups with Obesity Help..email me direct .. [email protected]

Hi Leah, There is a wonderful support group that I attend. It is a Summa Health System in Akron. It is run by the Dr. Z, who will be performing my surgery on 1-23-06. The meetings are great and there are others who attend that had surgery in Cleveland. Congratulations! Rebecca

The meetings are the 4th Wednesday of every month. They are across from Akron City Hospital, 55 Arch St. In the Professional Building, South. In the basement meeting rooms. Meeting hours: 6:30 pm - 8:00 pm The support group is called L.I.F.E. ( Loosing Inches For Ever ). The next meeting is 1-25-05. Also, on 1-28-05 they are having a style show, featuring everyone that has been in the program a year. They will be modeling clothes. I will miss the meeting and the syle show, since my surgery is Jan. 23rd. If you want to know more about the meetings call 330-375-6590 and they can give you even more details. Rebecca

Oh YAY! I have been looking for a good support group around here! =) I'm so happy! I'm going to attend that support group this January... I need to feel connected to my WLS family! Leah, I hope to see you there! Rebecca, I checked out your website... I don't have much time to read it now, but I wanted you to know I think it's great when WLSers take the time to make pages available to others. That is in essence, what helped me to make my decision, and be at peace with it. (Reading countless profiles/webpages of others) What would you say to a vistor while you are in the hospital? ;o) I am 5 minutes down EastMarket. (Ellet area) Hugs, Amanda

Hi again Rebecca, I had my surgery down in Dayton, Ohio with Dr. Maguire. I chose to travel because the Duodenal Switch (BPD/DS) was the best surgical choice for me. The only bad thing is, there are no DS support groups up in NorthEastern Ohio! =( I'm not TOO much a freak though... So I'm sure Dr. Z and friends will welcome me, right? --- I would be happy to visit you! Trust me, about the 'looking your best'... You will not care! haha (It's only after the fact, in my hospital pictures, that I marvel I let myself be seen like that!) If you'd like to email me, and tell me any specific information, please feel free. (Like room number, or date and time I should show up, etc.) Do you think you will still be in the hospital on the night of the support group? Do you plan on attending the Januray meeting?
