Is anyone out there tired of waiting also?

I'm feeling a little down today. I found out last week that with Aetna I have to do a 3 month pre surgery program with my doctor and a nutritionist before they will approve the surgery. I am really disappointed since I was hoping of having it done in January. Is anyone out there tired of waiting also?

Brittany, Look on the bright side, most plans require 6 month now, so 3 months isn't that bad. Also, if I remember right, with Aetna you can submit for approval before the entire 3 months is complete. Good luck! Dr. C

I just wanted to wish you and your family a very Merry Christmas. Thank you again for giving me my life back. You are the best doctor I have ever met. It was a miracle that I called you that day and you talked to me. I don't know how many doctors would do that. I was so close to driving to West Virgina. The car was packed when I chickened out and went inside and got on the internet. I found you. You were recovering from hand surgery and saw me the next day. I am so lucky and I thank you with all my heart. I am so close to YOUR goal and I never thought I would be here. I would do it again tomorrow. My son Eric will be coming in Wednesday so make sure you fill him up all the way, Love,Cindy

I was all ready to go last February when I was offered a better position with my employer. I didn't have the heart to ask for 2 mos off right away, so I decided to wait until I was at a steady state before I resumed my intentions for surgery. It all worked out, and I finally got my surgery on Halloween and was in a better position as a result. Hopefully you'll see the same good fortune. Hang in there, baby. Valerie

Brittany, I actually think you are very lucky. There are so many people out there that desperately need this surgery, however, because of policy exclusions, they will never have the opportunity. I know 3 months seem like such a long time, but as I hear every day from almost every Aetna patient---it flies by!!! So, instead of feeling down, think positive about how blessed you are to have the ability to have this wonderful, life changing surgery. Good Luck!!!! Dont' get discouraged, take the 3 months and get ready for your new life. Learn everything you can from the classes, they have a tremendous amount of information. I had 'lightbulb' moments all the time during my 3 month classes. I learned how to eat(I thought at 398lbs eating was something that I knew how to do lol) what to do when I'm upset, happy, sad, celebrating instead of eating. Hang in there. With the program you'll be able to take your new 'tool' and use it the way it's supposed to be used. Denise 398/323
