1 week post op

Hello Ohio group! I am now 1 week post op RNY and am doing quite well. They were able to do the sugery laparoscopically which was great. I have a clotting mutation also and have had clots in the past requiring life long blood thinning, so there was a concern for that since I had to stay on the injectables pre op and 10 days post op. The surgery took 5 hours, and recovery room 4 hours, then to my room. The surgery went well, I had some blood pressure issues first night (high) which I don't normally have anymore. Now BP is fine. I went in Monday for surgery and came home Wed night. Actually I went to my parents for a few nights then came home. they don't have internet access and I suffered withdrawl! LOL. Just had doc appointment and got the drain out, thank goodness and can now progress to full liquids. I am so tired of the protein drink I had, it made me ill to think of drinking it, so I went last night and got some new ones, it tastes some better, at least I can tolerate this one for a bit! I feel better and have lost some weight (gained 14lbs of fluids in hospital!) lost that plus a bit more! I am moving around ok abit slower then usual, but hey, I'm moving! I plan on going back to work tomorrow or Wed. I have a sit down job so that's ok. I am a computer nurse in my current life! I nursed patients for 28years and got the opportunity to move to this position in 2001. We are going to be working on a big project 2006 and I want to be ready for that! Hi Deborah, Glad to hear you are doing well. Just don't forget to take care of yourself. Rest when needed, etc. Listen to your body and you will do fine. Don't forget to drink and walk, walk, walk! The new you is just waiting to emerge! Happy Holidays, Janet
