sexual question
Hi all! I'm a week out of surgery and feeling great! I have a question for everyone. I don't have my tubes tied and don't intend to. My hubby has considered vasectomy but that is really last, last resort. What forms of birth control seem to work the best after this surgery? My Ob/Gyn feels IUD. That contraption just looks scary!! I am terrified of getting pregnant because I know several people that have. Suggestions?
I had an IUD for 9 years and it made my life so much easier! The first six months are the roughest, because your body is adjusting to this foreign device. Cramps are a little stronger and flow is a little heavier. After that first six months, though, I was back to my old ways again.
Now, let me tell you the good part. I had been on some form of chemical birth control for about 15 years before getting the IUD. The first few weeks after getting it, my hormones that were suppressed by the pill, depo shots, etc, were awakened and Va VA VOOM! I think DH was pleasantly surprised at first, but later afraid to come home for a while.
Go for it!

The IUD is great...I have the newer MIRENA IUD and have had it for a year and a half. The worst part is a little cramp when he puts it in. You can have it in for 5 years. It releases a hormone also ( I think Progestin) and it makes your period cramps and bleeding mild or non existant. Just in the past year that I've had it I have had 2 or 3 periods and they have been just spotting, no real bleeding... I had an IUD about 30 years ago and it was different....They are a lot better now... I would reccomend it to anyone!
