I had my open RNY 8/15 and im down 52 lbs, but i have only lost 4 lbs in a month?? I cannot excersize due to a stomach muscle problem resulting from surgery, but hopefully a steroid shot i was given thursday will help the pain. we wont know for 2 weeks or so. BUT how can i speed up my weight loss? im very concerned that ive only lost 52lbs in almost 4 months. Im so newly post op. Has anyone had this problem or does anyone have any suggestions? im really frustrated and sad. i know i should be happy with the 52 lbs, AND i AM! BUT i know i should have lost more. thanks kim

Just a plateau, it'll pass...be very sure you are getting enough protein in and exercise...even with a sore belly there is something you can do to burn a few calories! Good luck, Dr. C

Yup, you've hit your first stall period. If you've measured yourself in the past, do it again, because your body will still be changing and you'll see that you're still making progress.

I had so many plateaus . I hated it but Dr.C is right. It will pass. I haven't lost a lb. in 6 weeks. I still have 8 lbs to goal but I think it's time to start exercising lol. I have joined a few places but can't get myself going. I just don't like it . January 1 is a new year and I am getting my act together. You will be fine, your body doesn't know what to do. It will catch up. There are times where you lose 5 lbs overnight and those are great days. Enjoy, these are the fun times, Love,Cindy

Hi Kim Welcome to the board. I go threw that with every 10 pounds I lose. Then I stop and firm up and 2 weeks later I start losing again. I have just accepted it You are doing great Barb

Barb, I do the same thing. I lose about 1 pound a week for 3 to 4 weeks then like overnight I lose 10 to 12 pounds. I just measure and keep my exercising, proteins, and water up. Rocquetta 333/255/175

Thank you. I feel wonderful also. It is amazing that it has only been about 4 months and I have seriously changed all over. I still have a long ways to go but I am very very pleased with the results. And would even be OK if it stopped today. Rocquetta 333/255/175
