Head hunger sucks
I am almost 2 weeks post op and man the head hunger is terrible LOL I am doing pretty good so far. I wake up with a sore side from the way I sleep and can't wait till I can sleep more comfortable, I had the open revision. I am having a problem trying to get my protein in. I am allergic to milk and egg so I have to try and find someway to get it all in. I emailed the dietian and asked if I could at least drink the Vit D milk I am so used to and can tolorate. So we will see what their suggestion is! I am down about 15 pounds and can see a differance in my face already! Which will be so nice not to have this big round face anymore! My girls are so excited for me to heal so I can start playing more with them.
Guess I will close this. Thanks for reading!

Casey ive been wondering how surg went. Good to hear your doing well. The protein thing will get better with time. The head hunger i only had when i was on the liquid diet then that went away. Things sound good but when i eat a bite or two they just dont do it for me anymore so thats good.
I asked about you coming to the support groups they said oh yeah shes military whether you had surg on base or not your welcome. The next meeting is the 15th of Dec if you want to go let me know i havent looked at schedules yet to see if i have ball games with kids or not but the meetings are at 6:45 till whenever.
Take Care.

I agree with you that head hunger sucks! When I had my surgery last year and Thanksgiving rolled around, all I could do was think about turkey sandwiches and chocolate covered marshmallows! It went on for weeks until something else took its place. On the plus side.....it won't be long before you are eating somewhat normally again! Hang in there!

If you think head hunger is bad, try REAL hunger. About 20-30 minutes after I eat, i have hunger pangs and my stomach growls, not gurgles, it GROWLS and I feel empty. I sure hope this gets better, because I don't know how I will live my life if I feel hungry all the time and I cannot eat all the time or I will never lose.

I had the same thing. believe me it gets better when you get on the solid diet. I hated that feeling. I was so hungry. And it was real hunger. Just try and replace that feeling with protein. It will pass. I felt just like you. I was suprised and kind of mad. That I was so hungry. Just drink plenty of fluids. Once you get farther out you will be fine.

I think the worst is the first month, mostly it's just missing the action of eating, taste and the comfort that it once gave us.
Head hunger sucks.. but it does get better.. you'll soon be thinking... good gosh I HAVE to eat again.. blaaaah Eating to me almost is like a chore, something YOU HAVE to do, but do not want to. Even at a year out, I could care less most the time.
Food doesn't hold the same value as it once did. Not it's an eat to live thing, not live to eat.
Blessings,
Vickie

Casey, i am so glad to hear that you are doing well so far. I couldn't believe the head hunger that I experienced right after surgery. I don't think anyone is prepared for that! It goes away pretty quickly, though. I think that if you can tolerate Vit D, then, that is what you should drink to get the nutrients you need. Keep in touch. We are having a South Dayton Group meeting on Dec 10th at DLM. Let me know if you need more info. Chris
