It's totally normal to be nervous, and you'll have different kinds of nerves working you throughout your recovery. Check out Dame Tooer's WLS timeline/am I normal. It gives a great account of what to expect post surgery. http://www.bariatricbytes.com/timeline.html I started feeling better about a week after surgery, because I had taken off the hospital IV fluid weight by then. I'm just shy of five weeks post-op, and I can tell a big difference already in my mid-section. Also, my feet don't hurt as much as they used to. Good luck with your follow-up appointment!

Rich, It is different for everyone. The one thing going in your favor is your sex! Men always lose faster than women! Doesn't seem fair either! The other thing is....how much weight would you or could you have gained since your surgery?! Especially with Thanksgiving thrown in there..... Sometimes the scale can be your best friend or worse enemy......when I hit a plateau I got very anxious...wondering what I did wrong...what I should do differently....the only thing that I kept thinging was that I was doing everything the way I was supposed to be doing....and then upped my walking. The plateau ended and since then I have lost another 12 pounds. If you go on your November 2005 surgery date board it is remarkable how similiar every one there is. Things happen for all at about the same time. I think everyone in our group stalled at around 4 1/2-5 months from surgery....then everyone started losing again at about the same time. BTW the plateau lasted about 3 weeks. I do weigh myself daily.....other's once a week....and yet other's only at their doctors. You will do fine! You are in great hands and the program doesn work! I am inching to goal! Only 24 pounds to go! Sue 320/154/130 goal

manager of toys at wal-mart) her department is extremely busy this time of year. Rich, I too work at Walmart but at the Electronics dept. It is a madhouse!! Make sure you take care of her and give her a good foot massage after a long day at work on her feet. I tried to bribe my daughter into doing that for me last night. But she said.. NOWAY!! LOL Dont worry about the weight sweetie. Its gonna come off. I didnt lose too quickly right at first because I was still managing to get those 12-20 pounds of IV fluids my body had a hard time flushing out with my cardiomyopathy. As long as you are doing what the Doc tells you and getting some activity, its going to start happening. And when it does you are gonna be doing that "Happy Happy Joy Joy Dance". I do weigh myself every other day. Its mainly to make sure I am not going into heart failure and retaining too much fluid. But my curiosity does get the best of me, especially if I know I have been extra active and eating perfectly. I just love to see those numbers shrinking.. Its an awesome feeling being a loser. And its not about how you are looking as much as the amazing way you begin to feel physically as you begin to be able to do things that you hadnt done in a long time. Just be patient, its gonna happen. Big Hugs Laura
