Hello....anyone know of a good Dr for a phych eval? I am scared to death to have one done so I would like to go where someone has been and knows what to expect. I seen so many different posts on psych exams that I am terrified and would like to find someone that is not going to make me be there for hours and pick me apart with a fine tooth comb. This is my last step that I need so I submit to my insurance co. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!!! Thank you Dawn

hi. i had my psych eval with Dr. Patel. very nice young woman (i'll say she's probably 33-35). she is at Memorial Hospital of Union County (marysville, Oh). but i don't really think it matters who you really go to. you just have to make them aware that your sane, and your very familiar with the pros and cons of wls, and you know what and why it will make a change for the better in your life. they'll ask you if you have a good support system at home. who's going to be taking care of you at home post-op. well, i just pulled out a copy of mine...it says history of depression and anxiety..goes thru prior medication trials. No previous suicide attempts. Allergies. Current meds. any substance abuse (ie: drugs, alcohol, cigarettes, cafeine) Past family history of any substance abuses like above. Any family members with possible mental or psych problems. Developmental and Social History: where you live, who you live with. any siblings. step-family members. boyfriends/girlfriends. your education. and any hobbies. Mental Status Exam: (basically the dr's subjective notes) mine says...caucasian female casually groomed and dressed. appears stated age. morbidly obese. good hygiene. has tongue stud (no mention of my earrings, but the tongue ring was somewhat of importance...lol) cooperative and pleasant. maintains good eye contact. speech well articulated. mood is depressed. affect is somewhat blunted. Denies suicidal or homicidal thoughts. denies psychotic symtoms. thought processes intact. BLAH,BLAH,BLAH. you get the pix. Final Assessment: It is my opinion that this patient would be a good candidate for bariatric surgery. I'd say that whoever you see, and as long as your sane...(i take that back, crazy people think their normal and everyone else is crazy..lol) so, i guess as long as other people think you sane...you'll be ok. good luck.
