I am now 5 weeks post op and I am sick of eating the same ol crap! I am at the point where I don't even want to eat. I practically have to force myself to eat. I'm not getting in all of my protein, and this worries me. I have the worst case of indigestion all of the time, and I'm on 2 different pills a day for it, with no relief. Is this normal or am I to be concerned? The Dr. thought I might have a stricture but I'm not throwing up! Just aweful heart burn/indigestion. Please give me some feed back and advice on what to do! Thanks Josie

Hi Josie, I would try papaya enzyme for the indigestion and see if that helps. I would call the doctor and make sure they are aware you have heartburn that is uncomfortable. Yogurt is good for reflux; pineapple is also good for relieving heartburn in case you are allowed to have that by now Have you had the heartburn the entire time? Did you vomit a lot earlier in the process? I don't know what your doctor's requirements are for 5 weeks out so I can't offer much help unless you want to write back and I can see what recipes I have on hand for your stage. You might want to join http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/BandsterRecipes/ since they have quite a lot of recipes for the different stages we go through. I also use Saving Dinner the Low Carb Way by Leanne Ely, a nutritionist, that has some amazing recipes (the whole family loves this cookbook) and the whole grocery list is in the book for you since the recipes are broken into one week menus. I hope you get relief soon Have a wonderfully blessed day, Amber

At 5 weeks I started eating what the family eats. I just eat it in small portions and I chew really well. If it doesnt agree i stop and try that food again a few weeks later. The only things I really have problems with is chicken. I do not eat no sweets. Take Care Barb I even eat salads

I feel aweful heartburn and indigestion if I eat something that is really dry (like a piece of chicken) so try something a little juicy. I am one and 1/2 months out and I eat a small cup of cornflakes with some skim milk every day for breakfast. I snack on a protein bar during the day, as well as a low carb yogourt. Lunch, sometimes a small salad with chicken and for dinner (tonight I had a cup of homemade chili). I was told that I can eat small portions of ground beef, but no steak for 6 months.
