I will be going to Barix Clinic in Groveport for a lapband seminar by Dr. Barbara on Saturday. If you have had him as a Dr., what did you think? Does he require a preop liquid diet? I'm excited. I was quoted a price of 13,800.00 for lapband there, and as a self pay patient, I have to balance out experience and price, I hope I found a good candidate.

I realize this isn't the question you asked, but I had open RNY at Barix with Dr. James Viglianco on 6/23/05. The care I had at Barix is the best I could've possibly had. They left no stone unturned. They were the most prepared, professional and thoughtful people I've ever dealt with. My only negative statement is this...I had a personality conflict with the respiratory therapist (and I yelled at her more than once) and one of the nurses (I also let her know my disproval). But, the goods FAR FAR FAR outweigh the bads. I am not familiar with the lapband procedure, I really know nothing about it, but Barix is something I deeply love and care about. If you have the opportunity to go to Barix, take it. I have absolutely no regrets. And I have a three-hour drive each time I have to go back for a follow-up. Julie in Akron

I am scheduled with Dr. barbara on 12/8 for the lapband. He was very informative, kind and thorough. I go for my pre-admission testing on 11/23 and that is when the payment is due. It was about 13,900 for my self-pay option. I don't know whether he requires a liquid diet pre-o*****t, but I am likely going to do one anyway from what I have read on the lap band forum it just helps get the mind set for post op and helps a bit with keeping the bowels going. I have been very impressed with Barix. Let me know if I can help answer any other questions, and I will be able to tell you more in less than a month from now!!

Dr Barbara was my doc at Barix Clinic. I had my open RNY in September and he was a great doctor. The whole staff at the Barix Clinics was great. I think I did a liquid diet 2 days prior to surgery. There can't be any food in your system prior to surgery-I had to do 2 T. of Malox starting 2 days prior to get my system cleaned out. Good luck with your surgery-again, everyone there was absolutely wonderful.

I had Dr. Barbara at barix a year ago with an open rny. I have lost 152lbs. as of today, and am TOTALLY happy with the staff and Dr. Barbara. I would HIGHLY reccommend them. They are there for you 24/7, and Dr. Barbara is Great. Good luck to you, I'm sure you will be very happy.
