Howdy Fellow Ohioans
Hi Laura, nice to meet you. I'm Chris. I had my surgery Feb 7, of this year and I was not really nervous about it, I had a totally smooth "ride" from getting insurance approval to having surgery and recovery and through this moment. Everything has gone well, no real "bumps" in the road. Hope all goes just as well for you. Welcome!

I feel wonderful. I can do so much more without getting out of breath etc. I have lost 105 lbs as of yesterday morning (my scales) and tomorrow is my 9 month anniversary. I started out wearing 3X's and am now in 12-14 petites. It is so exciting!!! I am off my CPAP and on a lot less meds than before surgery. Life is good!!!
Oh, that is just wonderful to hear! I'm a 3Xer, too, hopefully to soon be an ex-3Xer.
12-14 petites...wow, it must be like living in a dreamworld.
Funny, but I did have a dream the other night that I was "flat," as in "deflated." I was in a building and caught a reflection of myself in the mirror, and realized that I no longer looked "pregnant." I figure these days I must be looking my age, because few people ask me anymore when I'm "due," but it wasn't uncommon for people to ask. What an embarrassing situation for them *and* me...

Diane ~ you know it's funny, but I know a lot of people find the wait for approval just the pits, but I was kind of like, whew! Now I'll just sit back and wait and take it easy for a bit. I had been running around like a chicken with all these tests and appointments and the like. The next thing I knew, I was approved and my doctor's nurse is calling and saying "we can get you in in three weeks!" I was thrilled, but at the same time...SLOW DOWN.
Anyway, I wish you MUCH luck and an approval letter as soon as you're ready for it.
~Laura

HI Laura
I'm an oldie around the boards, but just approaching my 1 yr surgiversary! I'm single, 46, with 2 sons, but only 1 left at home.
I did so much research leading up to my surgery that I was not afraid at all and my process was anything but smooth. But all's pretty cool now, and in about 6 months I'll be fighting with the insurance co. AGAIN to go onto the next leg of my journey.

Hello Laura!
Welcome to the board. I am usually a lurker here.
I am 49 years old, married 30 years and have a 21 year old daughter in college.
I had my surgery at Barix Clinics on February 17, 2004. I weighed 312 lbs (by their scales, 315 by mine) and I now weigh 179.
Having this surgery has been the one thing I wish I could have done for myself 20 years ago.
It's been a wild, crazy,and fun ride!
I haven't had any complications post op except for a ventral hernia my surgeon fully expected me to have. I haven't had surgery to repair that yet.
Anyhow, wishing you the very best on your surgery and journey to better health and nice clothes...
.
See you around the boards
Andi B
