stomach Stretching
Hi all. I havent posted on here in quite a long time. I am over 3 years out of my surgery and i have been doing really well up until recently i guess. I went from almost 400 pounds down to about 185 pounds within about 1 1/2 years and have maintained that weight up until just recently. I have noticed that the amount of food intake i have had has gone up. I dont know how much i should be eating now and i am starting to gain a little weight now. It's not much, Just a few pounds, but i guess i am just worried that i could be heading back to my old weight. Anybody else out there that has gone through this? Am i worrying fo nothing? Is there something i can do to maintain my current weight? Have i stretched my stomach beyond repair?
Mr. Frederick:
I am assuming that you had a gastric bypass? If so, then reweight gain is not desired but can be normal within 5-15% of the total weight loss. Eating progressively more should be watched carefully and of course excercise is also a key component to weight loss maintainance.

It is so important in the beginning to learn new eating habits. I feel it's not the amount we eat but rather the food choices. Reasses what you are eating..start writing things down and i would definately suggest going to support groups. I am 2 1/2 yrs out..I decided before I gained weight I was going to get help..I don't feel any of my problem is about food but instead--emotional.
I started going to counseling to help me get through the "addiction" it's important for me to realize and understand why I eat. so far I have maintained very well..I am pretty compliant but not anywhere near perfect.
