Newsless news

Dr. Selwyn and crew, I too heard the story on the national news and of course it was de-contented so that basically it was a headline instead of anything of value. My DH almost flipped out, since my surgery is less than two months away. I pulled and read the JAMA article (you're right, Dr. Selwyn, better that Ambien). It was looking at Medicare patients and low surgery number docs/hospitals. I am sure ANY surgery performed on a patient over 65 with co-morbidities by a less skilled surgeon will result in higher death rates. What makes me angry is that many people without the resources or ability to read the actual article will take this story as gospel and avoid futher researching a viable option for themselves or will discourage friends or family members because of it.
