Post-Op help please!
Hello Everyone,
I had LapBand surgery last Friday with Dr. Curry and I have been thinking a lot this week about the next step in this adventure which is adding food back into my diet. The problem with this is while I am starting to get hungry, I have been experiencing daily nausea which makes it more difficult to really desire food.
I am really terrified about the next couple steps where we reintroduce food and what is going to happen. I am scared about throwing up, not knowing how to eat properly or developing food intolerances. I guess I am kinda wondering if anyone else experienced this and how you dealt with it? Is adding food back in hard? I had a LapBand so I am really not "restricted" so to speak right now; will that make it easier now and harder later?
I know we all handle things differently but I just thought maybe I was not alone and perhaps someone with a little more experience under their belt could provide a few suggestions or thoughts?
Thanks for listening.
Heather

Hey Heather!
Glad to see you're up and about! I was lucky and had no problems with any food up until I started getting fills, really. So I am afraid I can't offer much help there. However, I suggest posting this question over on the Lap Band board - you're sure to get some good advice there.
Go to communities at the top of the page and you can select surgery types from there. There is a message board for each.
Good luck!
Melissa
Maybe Dr C can post an answer for you. I had the Lap RNY so I have no idea how the lap band feels etc. I just wanted to say that the early days are rough with the RNY and you are still getting used to that little tummy. Just give it some time and relax. But I still would put a call into Dr C's office and see what he says.

Heather,
Fear of the unknown is normal, but you'll get through it. That's why we have support groups, so you can get a feel for how other people have dealt with these problems. Nausea after surgery is not at all uncommon, take your phenergan and if it doesn't work there are lots of other things to try.
