Hi All! Jamie has left me with an awesome responsibility and I'm not quite sure I know where to go with it! Please email me with any interest you might have in continuing with this group. I know that we are scheduled to meet on the third Monday of the month at 7pm at the UM church on Graham Rd in Reynoldsburg. Brenda, if you are out there, email me, please? Anyone else? If this location is convenient for you, I will see if we can continue going there. If not, we can discuss another location. This group is for anyone who wants to join, but if I find that there is no interest, I will have to pack it in. I do still regularly attend the Mt. Carmel Support group and look forward to Dr. Choban's involvment in a group for posties. All comments or questions are welcome! Suzie

Hi Ms. Suzie, I have been attending the East side group, but not on a regular basis. In fact, I met you there ( and Brenda too! ) back when I was a pre-op. If there is enough interest for you to continue, I will probably continue to come. However, I"ve never known there to be more than 3 or 4 people there at any one meeting, no matter how many claimed they were going to come. I have not been to the Mt. Carmel support group since just before my surgery ( July ). Is Dr. Choban starting a group for post-ops? I'd love to be involved in that. I think she is great. Dr. Price did my surgery, but she has done most of my follow-up visits. She also did my husband's surgery in August and did an awesome job! Hope all is well with you. I think Jaimee told me you were in the gulf states after Katrina working with a medical team, or something. Nancy MacKenzie

Hey Nancy! Good to hear from you. I'm glad to hear that you and your husband have had your surgeries and now you are ready to start the job of....................living! Posties are an intense group. All is well with me. I did not go to the Gulf after Katrina, but I did volunteer. I think many healthcare workers did, but they were able to handle things with a small, select group. Thank God! The weather related devastation this year has been unbelievable. Hopefully, Wilma will peter out before causing too much damage. I mean, really, hasn't the south had enough? Makes you glad you live in boring Ohio, huh? I promise to be at the church in Reynoldsburg next month. If no one shows up, well, we tried. You are always welcome to the Mt. Carmel, and actually, I find they are getting better all of the time. I think Dr. Choban will be very helpful in getting information to us posties. Please come to the Mt. Carmel and judge for yourself. Suzie

Suzie, I just noticed that we have the same surgery date ( 2 years apart ) ! WOW, that's freaky. We share a "surgiversary" Hubby and I are both doing great, and you're right - we're getting on with the business of living. I felt like everything was in limbo while I waited for a surgery date and then for it to get here. Now that we are both finally posties, we can actually plan a vacation or something without worrying about it interfering with a pre-eval, a seminar or a surgery date. I feel so lucky that we're doing this together. I'm sure it makes it easier. We're having our own private game of "The Biggest Loser" !!!!! We have both hit plateaus already ( not at the same time, thank God! ) and have helped each other through. I keep getting paranoid that my wt. loss is going to suddenly STOP, and that will be it; but slowly and surely it continues. I guess that fear comes from a history of past attempts that failed. See you at support group! I met someone at work who is pre-op in the Mt. Carmel program and I'm going to try and get her to come with me next time. Nancy
