Need a little help!
This is a friends daughter in law that had surgery about three months ago. She has had a few problems and has asked me what I thought. I would appreciate anyones help. She had her surgery in Belgium. Here is her E-mail to me. Thanks again, Richard
Moms told me it would be better to drop you an email instead of trying to meet on here because of the time difference. She said you only come on when i'm off to bed already, hehe
I'm glad she gave you my email addy because i would really like to talk to someone who understands what i'm going through. To be honest, right now it feels i took the wrong decission about that surgery. I know in the end i will benefit from it but i can't look that far yet.
I don't know what she told you about all what happened but things didn't exactly turn out the way it was planned. The complications i had , had absolutely nothing to do with the GBP self, it could have happened at any other surgery. Anyways, my lungs are basicly healed up again, the only thing that remains are the bloodthinners (Fraxodi shots 1 ml).I have to keep doing them daily shots until end of January, a total of 6 months.
As i said, right now i just don't know what to think about it. I can eat all kind of stuff again, except the sweets, i didn't even try those yet because i remember what you told me about that lol.
I eat pretty good, not a whole lot, but more than i thought i would. The only thing is that most of the time after i eat i start not feeling good. I don't know if that is what they mean with that dumping thing, but i thought that was only when you ate sugars or so . It will only last an hour or two and during that time i can't see or smell any food or it would make me sick. I did not get sick yet, meaning like throwing up or so. I felt like it a couple of times but didn't get that far. Most of the time it's because i'm hungry and i want to eat to fast so my stomach tells me to chill but then after 5 or 10 minutes it passes and i can finish what i started
I also take daily vitamines and iron, and i started vitamine B12 shots which i need monthly they said. They recently did a bloodtest and my iron was too low. Now i don't know if maybe the fact that i'm using those bloodthinners for over two months already and the fact that my iron is to low can contribute to the way i'm feeling at the moment. Most of the time i'm tired, shaky and stressed and have that uncomfortable feeling after i eat. I was hoping that you know what was going on, maybe you experienced something like this yourself, or maybe you read about it somewhere on the site or so.
I had a checkup with the surgeant past week and he said that everything is going fine . He said that a weightloss of 25 lbs in two months is acceptable. The only thing is that i lost about 20 lbs the first 10 days. I didn't really lose a lot of weight the last two months, there was a week where i even took a few pounds.
Well, i'm gonna stop here for now because it 's past my bedtime and i have to work tomorrow.
Thanks again for letting me vent, hope to hear from you soon
Take care,
Hi Richard,
She mentions she can "eat everything except sweets" tell her if she is doing carbs/breads/ to lay off the white stuff.
Also she doesn't mention how much protein she is getting, nor water.. suggest upping those #'s. Dumping can occur is she is eating fast/fats/etc, it does not necessarily need to be sweet stuff.
Tired and shakey could be, dehydration or she really should talk to her Dr.
She also doesn't mention exercise at all.
Ask those ?'s
Personally she sounds a little depressed to me Richard. 25 lbs is fine I think. She will still probably reach 100 a year out and she will feel happier. I lose very slowly. The way she feels sounds like when I take that extra bite. It is terrible and I feel like I have to lie down for an hour. Sugar doesn't bother me either but that one too much bite kills me. It took me a year to finally learn when to totally stop..Thia whole process is such a learning experience. I haven't lost a lb in 4 months. These 17 lbs. left are a ***** lol. Good luck to her and tell her to get on the site and we will all help her. Love,Cindy
Richard
I agree with the othe post as well. Im wondering if she is watching portion control also. She stated she could eat more than she thought she could, and also stated she sometimes eats quickly. She may be overfilling her tummy and if she is eating too quickly may not realize it until its all in there. Just a thought.
