Question about pre-op testing

Hello, For all of you who have had surgery, particularly at Barix, can you tell me what to expect during pre-op testing? I've been told the basics but I want to hear from those of you who have experienced it -- is it horrible? I keep hearing about things like a blood-gas test, a big needle in the artery in my wrist -- is that one of them? What else? Any personal experiences would be greatly appreciated. I am seriously needle-phobic, so I want to be as calm and centered as possible pre-testing ... lol. Many thanks, Ellen

Hi Ellen- pre-op testing was really a breeze. The ladies who do the blood draws at Barix are very good. I had surgery at Barix with Dr. Vig back in February and he is fantastic!! If you check out my profile, I go into detail about the pre-surgery testing. Good luck! Lori H. Ohio Open Distal RNY 2/21/2005 245/179/140

Thank you both. How sad that I'm being a big kid about some blood work. In reality, I'm probably projecting fear of surgery onto this first little step I appreciate your advice.
