Hello everyone. I was just wondering if anyone has had problems with throwing up on a pretty much daily basis. I am 7 weeks out and generally feel great! down 49lbs!!! My problem is that at least once a day i am vomitting. There is no rhyme or reason to this. I am eating slowly and chewing well but...i will have pain and then get sick. sometimes it is just the "foamy" yuk but other times it is actual food. I have gotten sick after eating a wide range of things. tuna noodle, baked chicken, chicken noodle soup... these are all things that i have eaten before and not had a problem with. I just don't get it. one day it sits fine and the next it causes horrible pain and vomitting. I am getting very frustrated! Any suggestions?

Hi Josette! Congratulations on your weight loss! That's fantastic! I am 8 weeks post-op, and up until last week, I was vomiting once or twice a day. This week, so far, I have gotten sick once. It was after I ate part of a cheese omelette, which I have eaten many times before. Sometimes I think that it depends on what I already have in my stomach as to how well something else may sit. Does that make sense? How much are you able to eat at a time now? I go to my surgeon next week and I intend on asking her about it. If you don't have an appt. with your dr for a while yet, you may want to call - just to see if they can give you any suggestions. Like you, I am otherwise feeling fantastic...better than I have in a long, long time! Keep in touch, and let me know if you find out anything! Keep up the great work! ~Amy

You need to call your doctor. I was doing the same thing and let it go on way to long. They discovered an ulcer and placed me on medication for it. It may not be your problem, so the wisest thing to do would be to notify your doctor about any medical problems. Good luck!

i did speak with my doctor about it and he didn't seem too concerned. He said that my pouch was still so "new" but that if it continued to call him again. That was only a week or so ago so i didn't want to seem too pushy!! i work at the hospital so i do see him pretty often so maybe i'll say something here soon. i don't want to let it go for too long. i just feel so good in between!! that's what keeps me from calling because i feel like if it was something to be concerned with i wouldn't be feeling so good!! Typical nurse mentality, take care of everyone but yourself!! Thanks for the advise, next time i see my doctor i will say something again!

I suffered from dry heaves and sometimes had the foam thing going on, my doctor put me on a pill combination. If you would like more information feel free to email me.

tuna noodle, baked chicken, chicken noodle soup... These things you mentioned would not sit well in my tummy either. I have to really watch things with noodles and the density of the chicken I am eating. I have only thrown up once and it was on Domino's pizza. The sauce was just too sugary and boom there it was, after foaming at the mouth like a rabid dog for a few mins. Its funny that sometimes we can eat certain things and other times NO WAY!! I dont have any suggestions, But I just wanted to let you know you arent the only one who goes through this. But I would be sure to put a call into your surgeons office because thats one meal or two that you are not getting adequate nutrition. Take care of yourself. Hugs, Laura

Josette, It sounds like sometimes you're vomiting and sometimes you're frothing, which is sort of a different thing. Some patients have reported improvement in frothing with OTC Claritin D. Daily vomiting at 7 weeks isn't common but does happen and doesn't always mean there's a problem there. I would agree though your surgeon needs to know.
