Home from the hospital
Vickie,
Thanks, How are you feeling? I tried a banana this morning and it made my pouch hurt so I think I will try the baby food bananas and see how that works. I am still calling Dr White in the morning. I was supposed to today but it was my birthday and was gone most of the day. I will be looking for the Vit K also. Cuz I am not trying to drink that nasty stuff again.

You poor thing, I can sympathize with you on the infection and kidney stone. I had one at 3 weeks post op, but the Dr felt as big as it was it had nothing to do with my WLS. But its EXTREMELY important to keep drinking fluids to help you pass this one and prevent more in the future. Make sure you ask the urologist what foods and drinks to avoid.
I was able to take the potasium pills and keep my levels good, and could tolerate a bananna in my protein shakes. The Dr gave me pain meds to use as the stone moved into the narrower areas, and some super strong meds to take when the pain became unbearable and it was ready to pass. Believe me you will know when its about ready to pass, you will feel like you are sitting right on it.
I will be sending some healing thoughts your way.
Love and hugs

Rocquette.
I have had that problem for years and have been on a pill for it. Well at the hospital after surgery I had low levels. I had to drink that same stuff. It is awful salty and gross. I had one nurse from hell pour a nighttime nurse she poured it in a cup of apple juice and tried to make me drink it, I think she was trying to make me sick. I had to drink 3 doses in three hours and then regular doses and I have here at home the big bottle full of doses. I heard a low potassium can make you really sick, So try and keep that up,

Barb,
That is terrible. I am so glad that I didn't have to deal with ignorant nurses. Matter of fact the nurse that took care of me most of the time had WLS 2 years ago and did everything possible to make me comfortable. Even when I went to the ER at The Toledo Hospital every nurse besides the triage nurse was awesome. When I explained that I couldn't drink more than 3 oz at a time she made sure I didn't have more than that in the cup she mixed it with and when I told her about the pills and why I couldn't take them she went right away to get me the powder.
I am glad to see that you are feeling better. My first 2 or 3 weeks were the worst for me. But now it is getting easier. Not a piece of cake but I am better able to understand what I can and can't tolerate.
Oh and by the way don't let what that lady on the other board said get to you. Some people just like to start stuff and make you feel like you said something wrong. I would have probably told her the same thing you did.
