Where is everybody?

I haven't been posting lately, life has been hectic. I need to catch up on things, what have I missed? Cheryl

Cheryl, First of all, Congratulations on your wedding. Your pictures are beautiful! You may not remember me, but I met you and Bo at my very first support group in Circleville, I was considering the surgery. I had been wanting this surgery for 3 and a half years, but my doctor kept telling me NO!! Well, I decided that since everyone in the support, especially Bo and you, were such an inspiration to me that I went home that night downloaded the admision form for OSU and sent it in the dollowing day (April 29). I received an approval from my insurance 2 weeks ago and I am waiting for Dr. Mikami to call me for my preop. I would like to thank you and Bo, along with others, for going to these support groups all over and supporting and inspiring me to take this journey. Thanks so much, Josie

I am so excited for you!!! I remember when I first got approved, I was scared and excited at the same time. I spent so much time on ObesityHelp meeting people and learning about the surgery. Bo and I love to get out and speak to everyone. Bo especially as speaking is what he was born to do. We have not done much of that lately as you know. Our spirit was broken a little by recent events as most of you know, but I guess that we should not let that stop us. I keep preaching to Bo that, but I guess I have not been listening and I have not posted. We are still doing the support group in Chillicothe if you would like to come and see us sometime. I hope to have a great Christmas meeting. The wedding was wonderful. I can't believe that I have been so lucky, this surgery is such a ride!!! Cheryl

Not working to hard at all today.. well at least not yet.. so I've been surfin ~~ridin the wave of OH.com~~ Well go down a few posts and look at my owie/wowie post and that's whats going on with me right now. miss ya, pop in more often, will ya?

I need to get back involved, I swore I would never post again, but I just miss my friends so much that I feel guilty. Cheryl

Cheryl, Oh, you should be involved, you are doing so many great things for others! You are a great inspiration to me and without this inspiration I might still be wondering "what if". Sometimes life deals us bad things, but we feed on it and become stronger. Keep your head up girl! Josie

Hi Cheryl, I'm coming home in October, am going to see if I can get an appointment with Dr. Cook while I'm there and am checking with my insurance to cover my hernia repair in Ohio. I am fed-up and not comfortable with my surgeon here. She might be highly skilled but she has zero bedside manner. Kept saying I had gain most of my weight back, and that I needed to stop gaining weight...Yes, I've gained about 10 pounds and have never been at goal, but she just tells me I'm eating too much and will not accept my lipedema as a reason why I have not lost more weight. To me the fact that I have been stable for more than a year shows I am not eating that bad otherwise I really would have gained most of my weight back. I also know waayyyy too many patients who have had major wound infections. I'd be a lot more comfortable with Dr. Cook. I have to e-mail him to get the ball rollling... I think that you are making a good decision. You have done an amazing job. I can see that and I dont have a medical degree. I trust Dr. Cook so much, he did a scope on me about a month ago and when he went to put me under, I was like. Hey, can we make the same deal as last time? He said...what do you mean? I said the last time you put me under, I lost over 200 pounds. HE HE. Anyway, I have an appt with him on Oct 13 to check on my ulcer and to schedule my hernia surgery. He wanted to do the surgery as soon as my ulcer healed, but I want to put it off to see if I can get plastics approval first. By the way, Lisa is no longer with him, he has a new assistant. I cant remember her name though. I understand not being about to get the extra weight off, Bo has Lympodema (SP??) and his weight can drop 15 pounds or up 15 in a day. He is going to start treatment soon and I hope it helps. Cheryl
