I'm nine weeks out today and have lost almost 50 pounds. However, the scale has not budged for over a week and a half. I continue to exercise 5 to 6 days a week and am getting in my protein and water. Did anyone reach a plateau this early? Any suggestions to jump-start my weight loss again? I thought of going back to liquids for a few days if nothing else helps. Nancy

Nancy, I've seen people plateau at 4 weeks. Increase your protein and activity, this is the best remedy. If you want more specific advice you can ask our dietitian Erin on our board - new you real you dot com. Good luck, Dr. C The Deaconess Surgical Weight Loss Center Cincinnati, Ohio (513) 559-2545

Dr. C is right Nancy. I lost 30 pounds my first month and then stopped for awhile and at three months out I was down 70 pounds. YOu are doing great. THis sounds weird but someone told me to eat something you would never think of eating. Actually they said eat a bisquit or some form of higher carbs if you have been staying totally away from them. When your body starts losing a lot of weight , I feel our body says " Hold On to what you have". So you stop losing. Eating a little carbs tricks the body into releasing the weight again. I know this sounds weird but it worked for me. I ate a few carbs and started losing again. THat is part of the reason I don't totally stay on a protein diet. I think our bodies need a little carbs here and there. I am still high protein low carb. But I still eat carbs. GOod Luck, Richard
