Almost a year
I will be 1 year out on Oct 10th. I would have never thought the first few weeks that I would ever feel better. Some of you might remember that I had a terrible time with dry heaves. I still get them from time to time, but usually from over eating or eating something I should not have. I am still milk intolerant. But amazed at what and how much I can eat now. I notice other people who know I have had the surgery kinda look at what I eat. I need to excercise more though. My hair finally grew back, I had "sick" hair for about 3 months. I eat what I want and do not worry about protien anymore. I was a size 30/32 and now can wear 22/24 and sometimes just a 22 depending on who makes it. Even my shoe size has gone down. I now wear jeans, something I had not done in about 10 years. Very hard to give up all my 30/32 clothing. Always worried that I am going to gain weight back. But I would reccomend the surgery to anyone who needs it.
I was 387 and now I am 268.

Julie,
I just got home after staying at my parents for a week and a half after having my open-RNY. I feel a little rough, but have been blessed with no nausea or heaves. I try to walk at least 30 minutes+ per day and not stress out too much. I hear the first month is the toughest, so I expect things to only keep getting better! I was excited just to go to Full liquids this past week.
I am proud to hear how well you have done in your first year and keep up the great work!!
Hugs, Lisa
