Protein HELP
Hi everyone, I have had a pretty hard time of it, havent been on line in a while, not feeling really well. Was in the hospital for 5 days with surgery then just spent a few more the this past week. NO FUN...but I know in 6 months I will look back and say HAHA.....I hope. anyway.. I need some help. I am having a really really hard time finding any type of protein drinks that I like. I have tried so many and cant get past the taste of the Whey protein in them. Im not sure what to do can anyone give me some ideas of anything I can take. Is there anything like a pill out there. I didnt even like the high protein pudding and your talking to someone that would live on choc. pudding if I could. Anyway..thanks for any help...Pam

Pamela I am still pre op;however, I have been attending nutrition classes at OSU, and we were given a recipe that follows
1 packet of sugar free pudding
1/4 cup dry milk
1/4 cup peanut butter
2 cups skim milk
total for one serving (4oz. or 1/2 cup)= 200 calories
11 gm protein
I made this today and it is very good, I even froze a 1/4 cup portion and it is great. I'm not sure how good it will be post op but I figure if it gags me now it will taste worse post op, so I'm eliminating the nasty proteins now. Hope this will help you.

Hi Pam!
My favorite so far is the Nectar by Syntrax... it's thinner and fruity, sort of tastes like a cool-aid kind of thing, but not as sweet. The thicker milkshake kind of protein drinks make me a little queasy as some are quite sweet. I really like the all natural peach and the fuzzy navel flavors of Nectar.... I'm going to try the lemonaide one next.
I hope you find something you like, as this is so important to supplement with the extra protein.
Thanks & take care,
Karen G.

Hi Pam
I'm glad you are felling better. I know exactly how you feel. I don't like any of the powders, Nectars included. Everytime I try to doctor one up, I just get more volume which is hard for me to get down. So, I have had to rely on the Profects. They are way too sweet, but at least it's only 3 oz (2.7) for 25 gms.

You can google ProStat 64. It is a liquid. You take 2 oz of it. I mix it in my apple sauce. It is a wild cherry flavor. They sell it at Barix, but you can also get it online. Sorry I dont have the website for you. I too had a lot of problems with the protein powder. I could not get past the after taste it left. After spending over $250 I finally found the pro stat. You can also use it in SF Jello. Anything with a fruity taste that needs water added. I use it in smoothies too. Best of Luck...
