tired, really really tired
I am 6 weeks post op lap RNY and have done fairly well. I have not adjusted to the transition from pureed to soft foods as well as I would have liked but I'm working on it. My problem is that there are days that I am so exhausted that I just want to stay in bed and sleep, I have trouble even eating or drinking but I am making sure I get in those vitamins and proteins. Does anyone else get this bone tired feeling? I also go to curves 3 times a week but it doesn't seem to give me the energy I hoped it would. I seem to just want to stay home and veg and I did that when I was FAT I sure don't want to do that now that I am getting slimmer. Help I need some words of encouragement or maybe a swift kick in the butt.
Thanks for listening!!
Judi
Judi,
Are you eating enough???? You have to have the fuel so your body can turn it into energy. Are you sleeping well at night. I found that a good nights sleep and eating good proteins helped bring my energy level back up. And I know I sound like a broken record, but I swear by water aerobics and swimming to give you energy. I come from the pool, relaxed and energized.
Even if you just walk around the yard.. Put a little makeup on, take a stroll and enjoy some sunshine and fresh air. Dont let yourself become a couch tater... Get moving.. Find a friend to walk with.. And just keep your eye on your goal. You are gonna get there much faster if you are moving and grooving...
Good Luck Judi.. WE are rooting for ya..
Love and hugs

Thanks Laura it is such a big help knowing that there are people out there who care and want you to succeed. I think I am eating enough but I sure will take a good look at it. I am careful about getting at least 80 grams of protein a day from tuna, fish or protein drinks. I go to Curves 3-4 times a week 2 days 30 minutes 1 day 45 minutes maybe I should start increasing each day to 45 minutes.
I just need to get my head back on straight!!!
I would do this over in a heartbeat.....cause I know my heart will be beating a whole lot longer!!!
Thanks for the support
Hugs to you
Judi
Dear Judi,
Laura is a superwoman!!!
I was tired for 2 months....Laura kept writing me about all of the things she was doing and I really thought that I was in trouble...but I wasn't. My system was just different than her's!
For me I felt better all of a sudden...it was like some one turned the energy switch back on.
talk openly with your surgeon and keep hanging in there!

Hi Liz,
Thanks for your response, it is good to know I'm not alone with this tired "thing" I probably should have mentioned I think I am a bit older than most people who have this surgery I am 62 and maybe that has something to do with it as well. I'm waiting for the energy switch to go to the on position. I do like my surgeon, Dr. Curry very much and have no problem talking with him.
Thanks again and I will keep hanging in there
Hope all is going well with you
Judi
Hi Cindy,
Thanks for your response. My family Dr. did bloodwork and its fine. Some days are better than others, I think my system is still adjusting to what happened to it. We live on the west side near anderson ferry off cleves warsaw. We just moved here a year ago from Chicago to be near our children and 2 grandchildren (they live on cleves warsaw) My husband and I are both from Ohio, I grew up in Columbus and he grew up in Loveland, we lived in Loveland before we moved to Chicago. Boy I sure do give a long answer to a short question. Where do you live in Cincy?
Love,
Judi
I would call your doctors office if you don't have an appointment for a check-up soon. Being that tired is not usual, so you might be low in iron or B12 which could cause the tiredness. Have you ever had diabetes? Extreme tiredness is also a symptom of high blood sugars, so you really should either see your surgeon or your family doctor to make sure that there isn't a problem. Hope that helps, Chris
