Hello everyone! I want to introduce myself.....My name is Michelle, I live in Lebanon, Ohio and am 4 weeks out from Open RNY as of yesterday, 8/2/05. I have been a frequent lurker of the message boards here and am thinking that I could use the support and friendship of other "losers" so thought I would post and say "Hello!". I have lost right at 25 pounds these 1st 4 weeks, 23.3 in the first 2 weeks and then only 2 pounds in weeks 3 and 4.....thought that was highly odd but Dr. Maguire assures me that it is common and I am not the only person on the planet that this will not work for....LOL!!!! I was just positive that I was! I look forward to corresponding and learning from each of you!

Hi Michelle, Glad to have you here! I am 5 weeks post-op. I lost about 20 pounds the first couple of weeks and then stalled for a week or so. I started loosing again and have now lost about 33 pounds. It will come. Please feel free to e-mail me anything. It is nice to have folks who are at about the same stage as you. I did the same thing 3 weeks post op. I think the body has to adjust a bit and figure what the heck is going on. Its gone from Big Macs and supersized fries to pureed mystery meats. I think it just says WHOA!!! I started swimming at 3 weeks ( I healed well and fast) and from then on its been coming off quite quickly. Every day I wake up and am so amazed at this wonderful tool that is helping me to get healthier and healthier every day. I am not naive and know the weight loss will slow. But its not going to stop me from my working out and eating right. Just be patient girls, and those pounds will be gone soon and FOREVER!!! Good Luck Hugs Laura

I forgot to welcome you to the group.. DUH!!! I grew up in Cols and hung around with friends from Groovy Grove City. Even met my ex husband at the festival that they used to have at the fairgrounds. He was with the Sheriffs dept and i couldnt resist a man in uniform. I was there to see the Pleasant Mountain Bluegrass Boys play that night. Do you by any chance remember that group?? I am Laura from Southeast Ohio and have 4 kids. One son 13, girls 18,19,20 and a grandson who is 19 months old. I am almost 4 months post op and have lost almost a person off my body. I started out at 310 pounds on my 5"2 frame, and now weigh 194. My personal goal is 130, but Dr says 140. But if I wouldnt lose another pound I would still be completely satisfied. I am in better shape physically than I have ever been. I was never an exerciser. But now its my emotional and physical therapy. I no longer have chest pains, my b/p is normal/ my liver function tests are normal/ no more sleep apnea/ no more breathing treatments and oxygen/ no more sleep meds needed. But I am not giving up, I am gonna keep working with this tool and go for the whole enchilada. I want to keep getting healthier, keep my hair and live a long happy life. Congrats Shellie on your success. Believe me, have faith that those pounds will start coming off. Have someone hide the scales from you for a couple of weeks. Take your measurements and see what happens in two weeks. I bet you will be back here jumping up and down saying Yipeeeeeee!!! Big Hugs, Laura

Michelle, my name is Chris and welcome to this site. You are going to do fine and lose what you need to, it is at times an unpredictable road. If you are doing what the doctor has told you to do, the weight will come off. I wanted to let you know that we have a South Dayton group that meets at the Dorothy Lane Market in Springboro. A couple of the people that come have had Dr. Macguire's group do their surgery. We don't have a scheduled meeting time, it is sort of informal and someone from the group just posts a message asking about getting together, so if you see a post from Jill, Lise, myself etc. referring to a south Dayton group, please try to join us. At times someone will offer to have it at their home in the general vicinity. Hope to meet you soon. Chris
