I am so glad you are okay, and I truly sympathize, but I want to do a little educating on the girl you referred to as a B. I am an ultrasound tech in a small hospital. Most people who do ultrasound are well trained and know exactly what they are looking at when they are performing an exam. However we are not permitted BY LAW to tell a patient what we think is or isn't wrong with them. We would be technically giving the patient the results of the test, and that can only be done by a physician. Otherwise we could be legally charged with practicing without a liscence and risk losing our careers. If a patient sees the screen and watches me measuring normal or even abnormal structures in the picture, that ALWAYS gets the patient asking me questions, and more often than not, I can't answer the questions without giving away some of the results of the test. I once did a completely NORMAL ultrasound on a young lady who I le****ch the screen. Afterwards she went straight to her Dr.'s office and demanded immediate results of the test because she saw me measuring a LARGE MASS in her pelvis. She never said a word to me during the test, but she was bawling her eyes out at her Dr.'s office. What she saw me measure was her NORMAL uterus, which we always routinely measure. I hope this helps educate some who might think ultrasound techs are heartless and rude. We are only doing our job with the utmost integrity with our patient's best interest in mind.
