insurance problems need advice

Hello all, I was informed that barix clinics doesnt accept medicaid....who does? I need recommendations bad...i live in south central ohio so anywhere in the columbus, dayton, cincy area is great...even portsmouth would work...thanks in advance for all your help! T

You would want to contact Dr. Curry in Cincy. He accepts Medicaid,, and his insurance girl, Tracy, knows her stuff about medicaid approval. You want to get started asap, because Ohio Medicaid is currently running about 8 months to give approval. They want a bmi of over 50 (they say 40, but rarely grant approval unless it is over 50) and you must have 2 major comorbidities -- Sleep apnea, high cholesterol, heart problems, high blood pressure, etc. (GERD isn't considered) These are just a few of the things I have learned about them, Tracy could give you more info. Does medicaid cover this surgery. My daughter is also overweight. She is 26 single and 2 kids and is in beauty school. and really is struggling with her weight. It is a big issue for her. She is over 100 pounds over weight. Can you llet me know if medicare does cover this. Thanks Barb

Both medicare and medicaid cover the RNY, and while medicaid takes approx. 8 mo. for approval, medicare does not require preapproval.
