Severe pain...

This is a little weird... but, I am wondering if the pain I'm experiencing might in some way be related to my surgery and perhaps a nutritional deficiency or organ not working correctly! I woke up this a.m. with intense pain in my left foot and both hands... seems like some kind of tendonitis. I was not able to put any weight on my foot, but have since worked with it so that I can at least walk with a limp. My hands feel as though they are swollen/tight and it is too painful to touch any of the tendons, nor can I grasp anything or put my hands into a fist... as the day has progressed, the pain is now in both wrists and up my right arm into my right shoulder.... my neck is also stiff and hurts to turn my head. I have not done anything out of the norm to cause this trouble. Tylenol has not touched the pain. I don't want to be an alarmist by going to the ER, and I did not get a call back from my surgeon's office to see whether it could be related to WLS. If it persists in the a.m., I will call my family doc. However, I am wondering if this has anything to do with my surgery? Has anyone heard of this before???? Thanks, Karen

Karen, I really think that you need to get yourself into the ER ASAP and get checked out. These symptoms really worry me and it may be nothing or it may be something. But dont take any chances. Thats my motherly advice.. Please go and have a Doc look at you. Big Hugs Laura

Karen, Go to the ER now. If you don't want to go "at home" go to the ER where you had your surgery. If it is "nothing" then okay...but it HAS to be something. Liz

Thanks everyone for your help & support! I finally broke down and had my hubby take me to the ER on Tuesday a.m., as I could not use my hands for anything... not even to hold a wad of toilet paper. The pain was so intense!!!! The ER diagnosed me with arthritis!?! Well.... I just came from my PCP and he fully believes that I had an attack of pseudogout, a type of gout that can be caused by rapid weight loss and perhaps not quite getting in enough liquids. He does not believe that it is arthritis due to the fact that it came on so suddenly and was so debilitating. My PCP things that with the anti-inflammatory drug that I'm on and increasing my fluids, I should be back in good shape by Monday. He feels that this is a temporary situation, thank God!!! Thanks again for everyone's concern and suggestions... I'm hoping to be up to going to the conference on Saturday (Not that I'd let much keep me from being there!!! - I just might have to get my friend to drive, if I'm not up to it...) Hugs to all... Karen
