Well tomorrow is the big day for me. Fighting the nerves today and praying a lot. Plus trying to make sure I have everything ready. I all of a sudden starting wondering about whether I should have been given a bowel prep to drink. Is this standard? I wasn't given anything to drink for this and it wasn't mentioned. I'm thinking maybe it wasn't needed because I've been on a liquid diet for the last ten days anyways. So I'm probably worried about nothing but figured I'd ask here. Thanks and I'd appreciate all of the support and prayers I can get for my big day. I'm worried about my 14 year old son the most. We are so very close. But I'm trying to keep a positive mental state. Thanks again Tim

My surgeon didn't require a bowel prep so I didn't worry about it. The ten day liquid diet assured me that I wasn't going to suffer constipation immediately after my surgery. I would be reassured that if my surgeon didn't require it, then I didn't need it. Best wishes and a speedy recovery on your surgery. I am so loving my new life now!

Thanks Cathy, that's exactly what I was looking for. Dr. Curry is my surgeon as well. I really figured I didn't need it since it wasn't mentioned and it wasn't in my notebook that Erin gave me. Just making sure though. Better safe than sorry. Probably just my nerves going crazy at this point. Thanks Tim

Those nerves are a royal pain, aren't they? I had my mini nervous breakdown a few days before my surgery. Scared the holy hell out of myself for no reason. Just reassure your son that you will be fine and that by this time next year, he won't be able to keep up with you.

Tim, I didnt require a bowel prep or a pre surgery liquid diet.. And everything went just fine. I was just told to eat lightly the day before surgery, but nothing was restricted. The best of luck to you tommorow and I will pray for your family and the hands of your surgeon. Hugs Laura

Tim, For the life of me I don't understand why some surgeons do bowel preps for gastric bypass. Bowel preps clean out the colon. I don't even touch the colon during a bypass. So the answer is NO BOWEL PREP!! See you Monday! Dr. C
