Any support group meetings near Cincinnati?

Hi All, Thank you for reading my post. I am pretty new to the Cincinnati area. I have a 2 year old lap-band that has slipped and have had great trouble finding a doctor around here who was GOOD with the lap-band AND would take me on as a patient since they didn't place my band and I am having problems. My previous NY surgeon recommended Dr.s Allen and Rodreguez in Louisville, KY.After much deliberation, I decided against a new band and I am going to be having open RnY to remove my band and get Bypass. (No date yet, soon!). One of the things I miss since I moved here was my support group. Can anyone recommend a bypass/surgical weight loss support group around here? One in particular that isn't restricted to patients of "Dr. So-In-So" only. I am also looking for a psychologist that works with weight loss patients or people with eating disorders, so I can continue to work through my eating issues for long term success. I live halfway between cincy and dayton, but don't mind a little travel. Also, has anyone used Dr. Rodreguez? I know you have lots of great doctors here, so I doubt many of you have traveled that far, but my complications made it hard for me to stay local. Thank you for any help you are able to provide, If I don't have my surgery before the 20th, I'll try to go to the seminar. ~Erica

Erica, welcome to Cincinnati. Have you contacted Dr. Curry and the staff at his office. He is a wonderful Dr. and his staff is also wonderful. You never know, he might take you as a patient, all they can say is no...so call them,...he is at Deaconess Hospital 559-2545...I know that there is a support group for their patients on Aug. 11th and they are having a guest speaker...call and talk to Erin..anyway..good luck in your search...Pam

Please please call Dr.Trace Curry. I feel real good about him helping you.He is so wonderful and you really need to call him. Did you ever think about getting the band fixed? Good luck but I think we have the very best right here in Cincinnati. Cindy

Erica so sorry to hear about your problems with your band. I wish you good luck with finding a surgeon that will help you. As far as a support group I would like to recommend the group that I am involved with www.wlsbutterflynetwork.org....... Since I am president of course Im a little partial..... lol.... Seriously our support group is not connecting with any one surgeon, we have members who have had surgery with just about every doctor in the city. Welcome to the area..... Drs Weiss and Oldham are great Drs to work with. They are located at Georgetown Hospital in Georgetown KY. Give them a call..... They have been doing a number of LAP Band procedures and im sure they would be verse on helping you out with your situation. Email me directly for any further information...... Glen
